How did you get into debt?
Delicacy, 2018, Porcelain, Stoneware, Acrylic, 28"x14"x13"
How does your economic reality effect your art?
My financial situation keeps me aware of how fortunate I am despite being on the low low low end of middle class. Much of my artwork is about people like myself; people who have/are struggling financially and what that means for society as a whole. Understanding the challenges of poverty has given me a better idea of the voice I want as a maker.
Soup of Yesterday, 2018, Ceramic and mixed media
Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
Possibly. If income wasn't a factor, the art would have no limits.
