How did you get into debt?

How does your economic reality effect your art?
I refinanced my house 10 years ago to build an awesome art studio in my back yard. It was the best thing I've ever done. Having a space of my own my art suddenly got bigger, stranger and more complex. I go to the studio everyday, I'm grateful and happy to have long hours alone to paint and think.

Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
Yes, it's hard to know but I might have taken a completely different path in my art. Really, society is in debt to me, I took 30 years to care for society, I've delivered over 2000 babies, been a SANE ( Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner), cared for the elderly at the end stage of their lives and passed on my DNA, to 3 children and 4 grandchildren and through it all I have continued to paint, draw and move, did I mention I have a BFA in Theatre Arts and Dance. A long time ago my art changed from representational because I have had enough of real, to the abstract. Contemporary Abstract is where my artistic mind lingers most days. I did my part. All clothes are painting clothes.
