How did you get into debt?
Purchase of a car to make more money and needing emergency funds during family crisis and job loss.
How does your economic reality effect your art?
I'm paralyzed emotionally and can't paint as often as I'd like. Other times in the art it displays as dark or confusing or angry or all three.
Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
Definitely. The stress of needing money affects my creativity. I would say my best collection was my second series, The Fibroid Collection. Though I was stressed about an upcoming surgery, I didn't stress about money because I was on disability. The third collection isn't really a collection I'll just start a painting but the piece will sit for days sometimes weeks until I can start painting again. I'll either be too stressed about money to paint or I'm out working which leaves no time to paint.
