How did you get into debt?
Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Bachelors degree
How does your economic reality effect your art?
My economic reality makes it very difficult to apply to multiple juried shows, to travel, to join residencies, and most important to apply to Graduate School which is a dream of mine. Aside from buying top-quality materials, my economic reality mostly affects my ability to participate in the art-world in a constructive, long-term way. It is not even possible to apply for a college-teaching position with a bachelors anymore. You must have a masters. This makes it hard to be taken seriously economically.
Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
I would have more time to focus on the execution of the work, using proper materials rather than things that I have scraped together. I would also be able to more easily attend Graduate School.
