How did you get into debt?
Student debt, living beyond my means in New York City, taking unearned financially but earned in sweat breaks from my jobs.

How does your economic reality effect your art?
I basically don't think about creating the circumstances I need to make my dream art or my fantasies of what I want to make. I just focus on what I can do in the here and now, which is a productive and not an acquisitive mode. I try not to focus to much on how cool I look from the outside. My metal working job and my home studio and garden keep me hopping. It is a practical and workwomanly path. So my actual stuff I make is metal fixtures and drawings and small paintings, as opposed to documenting my life as art.
