I fell into debt by paying for my education with student loans.
I am a Lecturer of Art and Design at the University of Houston - Clear Lake and 26% of my paycheck is spent on loan debt. My current position has provided me greater financial relief compared to previous jobs. My financial situation was much different as an adjunct in which 50% -60% of my paycheck was eaten up by loan debt.
When I was an adjunct instructor, I could not afford a studio and therefore could not afford to make a mess. My kitchen table/dinning room became my studio. Being confined to the small space in my apartment also changed my process as drawing became a more practical medium.
