I have always been very very frugal, and have always felt that money=time to do my work. I have tried never to carry debt, and pay off the debts that I did carry as quickly as possible to avoid interest payments. I have also been fortunate to have had a partner who earned a reasonable income, but even so, I've just always been careful with my money knowing that I could never count on a steady income from my work or from teaching.
